Sunny is a PhD Studentship Researcher at UCLan, and is a part of the Global Race Centre for Equality (GRACE) research funding, and seeks to understand the narratives and lived experiences of Asian and Black women academics working in universities, by drawing upon intersectionality and the connections between ethnicity, race, gender, culture, and class and how they impact on the experiences and career progression for Asian and Black women working in academia.  Sunny is also a former UCLan Students’ Union President (2019/20) and was the figurehead, spokesperson, and advocate of students’ voice for 35,000+ students, Company Director, Trustee, and Chair of the Students’ Union Board.  As well as being a Non-Executive Director/Governor of the UCLan University Board including membership of the Resources and Remuneration Committees, with an aim of creating positive changes and improving the UCLan student experience.  Sunny reflects on her UCLan student journey.
