I am an academic with a passion for using the media as a tool to voice grassroots and marginalised communities. To achieve this I have been a journalis, a documentary filmmaker, a media officer, a social worker, and an interpreter. Today as a PhD candidate in the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), I am combining my different ‘worlds’ by way of researching the use of participatory video in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. I have presented my research in a number of discussions and conferences to date. My interest in theories and academic research has always been balanced by my passion in field works. The rare combination of film, journalism, humanitarian and social work provides me with a unique position and insight to connect issues of human rights and social justice from many different point of views. With experience as a trainer, language teacher and interpreter, I have the unique skills to work internationally as an academic, researcher or consultant and think thank. Calling myself a global citizen, I am bi-lingual – English and Indoensian – and keen to learn more languages whenever possible.
