I’ve just returned from speaking at the International Conference on the Freedom of The Press. It was hosted and organised by The Jerusalem Press Club. The club enjoys a view across the city walls of Old Jerusalem. ‘Trespass’ is a site specific app/artwork by international artist Layla Curtis, commissioned by Lancaster’s StoreyG2 as part of ‘Landed (Freeman’s Wood)’. The ‘Trespass’ artwork features an application designed for iphone which uses a custom drawn map, geo-location and audio recordings to invite users to participate in an oral history of Freeman’s Wood; an area of urban edgeland on the outskirts of Lancaster, in Lancashire.

Well over 350 undergraduate and post-graduate students were in the Media Innovation Studio at the end of April, rubbing shoulders with an amazing array of guests and alumni from UK and International film and television production companies, animation studios, news organisations and broadcasters. A cast of writers, producers, creative directors, news editors, reporters, graphic designers and 3D artists celebrated the week long Great Northern Creative Festival.
