Formed in 2013, the Media Innovation Studio, brings together an interdisciplinary team of researchers and innovators. Based in the School of Arts and Media and Psychology and Computer Science at the University of Central Lancashire, the research group spans media researchers, interaction designers and innovators from across the university.
Our work is centred on understanding media through human-centred approaches to create impactful research and innovation. This impact ranges across embedded learning and knowledge, prototyped technologies, quantitative data, policy recommendations, new systems, process and commercial activity.
You can find our work across academic journals, embedded within industry, guiding strategic decision makers, and within communities of geography and practice.
Examples of our partners include Reach, Google, the World Association of News Publishers, Preston City Council, the European Journalism Centre, International Media Support, the Global Alliance for Media Innovation, Lancashire University, the University of Surrey, MOSTYN Contemporary Art Gallery and a range of media and technology start-ups and SMEs.
