About Us

Formed in 2013, the Media Innovation Studio brings together an interdisciplinary team of researchers and innovators. Based in the School of Arts and Media at the University of Lancashire, the research group spans media researchers, interaction designers and innovators from across the university and is affiliated with the Institute of Creativity, Community and Culture (ICCC) and the Institute for Planetary Resilience and Community Transformation (PACT).

Human-Centred

Our work is centred on understanding media through human-centred approaches to create impactful research and innovation. This impact ranges across embedded learning and knowledge, prototyped technologies, quantitative data, policy recommendations, new systems, processes and commercial activity.

We are members of the European Media Management Association (EMMA) and the Association of Journalism Education, UK. We are also founding members of the Global Alliance for Media Innovation of WAN-IFRA, the World Association of News Publishers, with whom we’ve collaborated across a range of areas since 2009.
