The Sound of Colour (SoC) is an interactive musical installation designed by Jack Davenport. SoC uses a tabletop area and several multicoloured balls to create calm, generative music. Facilitated by a webcam overhead, players roll, bounce, and spin different coloured balls, triggering different instruments. The more balls on the table, the richer the texture of the music. The tabletop acts as a grid for the music, if you move the balls one way the notes will go higher, if you move them another way they will get louder. This project aims to explore how people interact with sounds in new ways. But don’t worry, the tabletop is supported by a ball rack so you won’t have to go running after the balls once they fall off the table!
Thank you for taking part in the Sound of Colour, creative composition. We would really appreciate it if you could give us some feedback based on your experiences from the workshop.
